Tools born of the questions we are asked
Which wine for game? How many bottles for forty guests? At what temperature should a Fronton red be served? The estate hears these questions in the cellar shop, on the phone and at wine fairs. Each tool answers them once and for all: from our own wines where possible, and from general guidelines, flagged as such, where it is not.
Where the information comes from
Pairings and serving temperatures are taken from our wine sheets, and only the wines available at the time of your visit are suggested. Information on the appellation and on Négrette comes from the Fronton AOC specification, published by INAO, and from the Plantgrape grape variety catalogue. Quantities and storage follow standard trade practice.
The estate behind the Workshop
Château Saint Louis was founded in 1878 in Labastide-Saint-Pierre, in Tarn-et-Garonne. Its 30 hectares of vines have been farmed organically, certified by Ecocert, since 2005. The estate produces Fronton PDO and Comté Tolosan PGI wines, and harvests at the end of August and the beginning of September.
Your questions
Frequently asked questions
Are the Wine Workshop tools free?
Yes. They are open to all, with no sign-up. The tasting sheet keeps your notes in your browser: nothing is sent to the estate.
Does the advice apply to wines other than the estate’s?
The general guidelines, such as temperature by colour, quantities, storage or reading a label, apply to all wines. The pairings, suggestions and precise temperatures concern our cuvées, based on their sheets.
Can I order the recommended wines?
Yes, from the site’s shop or directly from the Build your case tool. Delivery is free in France from 12 bottles.
Where is Château Saint Louis?
In Labastide-Saint-Pierre (82370), within the Fronton PDO area, between Toulouse and Montauban.
