The wine budget for a reception
The number of guests, the moments of the celebration and your wines: here are the bottles to plan for, what they cost, and the price per guest.
The three figures behind the budget
The number of guests, the moments when wine is served and the price of the bottles. Trade practice covers the rest: six 12.5 cl glasses per bottle; for the aperitif, two glasses of sparkling wine per guest; with the meal, two glasses of red and one of white or rosé; with dessert, one flute of sparkling wine.
Adjusting without cutting corners
To bring the bill down, choose a simpler wine for the aperitif and keep a more elaborate cuvée for the meal, or drop one of the moments. Better to plan a little more than too little: an unopened bottle keeps.
Your questions
Frequently asked questions
What wine budget for 50 guests?
With an aperitif, a meal and a dessert, allow about 25 bottles of sparkling wine, 17 of red and 9 of white or rosé. The cost depends on the wines you choose: the tool works it out with our prices.
Does the budget include delivery?
No, the total covers the bottles only. Delivery is free in France from 12 bottles; the final price is shown in the cart.
Are the quantities the same as in “How many bottles?”
Yes. Both tools follow the same practice; this one adds the price of the wines you choose.
