Tannat is a red grape variety native to southwestern France, particularly Madiran, renowned for producing robust, tannic wines. These wines are characterized by intense aromas of black fruits, plums, and sometimes hints of tobacco or coffee. Tannat is also famous in Uruguay, where it has become the emblematic grape variety, offering wines that are a little more supple and accessible than those of its country of origin.
